More New Stores Coming To Harbour View

As construction of Dicks Sporting Goods continues in Harbour View East, two additional retail stores are being built next to it in the shopping center on College Drive.David Creighton, the superintendent of the construction of Dicks, said rue21, a clothing store, and GNC, a vitamin and supplement store, will open in the space between Kohls and Dicks.Fulcrum Construction, the company Creighton works for, is building all of the stores.Creighton said while he doesnt know of an exact opening date for the two stores, he said the spaces should be ready for the companies to stock Oct. 1.He added Dicks Sporting Goods is planning its opening for the same day.While the construction for rue21 and GNC has just begun, the Dicks Sporting Goods building is taking shape and exterior brickwork is being completed.Creighton said in addition to the brickwork, he and his team are finishing internal framework, hooking up electrical systems and hanging sheetrock.He said the project is on track, and the team should be done by Sept. 1.Rue21 is a Pennsylvania-based clothing retailer that specializes in casual apparel and accessories for young women and men. They company has stores in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Newport News and Williamsburg.GNC, a Pittsburgh-based nutrition retailer, sells vitamins, diet and energy products, supplements and other health products.The College Drive store will be the second GNC in Suffolk; the other location is on Godwin Boulevard.
