Get Pink at Homearama on Thursday
As part of breast cancer awareness month, Sentara is sponsoring the Get Pink with Sentara House, #7, at Homearama, The Riverfront at Harbour View, in Suffolk, through Oct. 30. Homearama homes are open from noon to 9 p.m.
The home is owned by Rick and Michelle Buonfigli. Michelle is a breast cancer survivor who discovered her fast-growing tumor — triple negative breast cancer — during a self-exam just 7 months after a mammogram.
Those wearing pink on Thursday, Oct. 20, will receive a $2 ticket discount. Sentara will be offering free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, free chair massages and healthy cooking demonstrations.
Sentara is staffing the home with breast experts to help raise awareness and the mobile mammography van will be on site on certain days; call 1-800-736-8272 to schedule. Sentara recommends annual mammograms for women age 40 and older.
